Green Orchard Recruitment are working with a respected engineering business in Tiverton as they look to grow a new division and bring in a proactive Business Development Coordinator to help drive it forward.
This role isn’t technical — but it does need someone who’s naturally curious, confident speaking to people at all levels, and motivated to develop a long-term career in sales. You'll need to be happy working under your own steam, using tools like CRM systems, directories, and LinkedIn to identify and follow up with prospective customers.
The successful candidate doesn’t need to come from engineering or manufacturing, but you should have some experience in sales or customer service and be comfortable managing your own workload. In return, you’ll get full product and sales training — plus the opportunity to grow into a leadership role as the division expands.
What you’ll be doing
- Prospecting for new customers using the CRM, directories, and LinkedIn
- Following up on leads and nurturing prospects
- Liaising with the sales team and passing on customer requirements
- Preparing quotes and supporting the wider sales process
- Keeping CRM records accurate and up to date
- Coordinating with marketing to support targeted campaigns
- Visiting customers when required (occasional travel, with flexibility)
What you’ll need to bring
- Some previous experience in customer service, sales, or lead generation
- A proactive mindset — happy to take the initiative and work independently
- Confident communicator, comfortable speaking to a range of stakeholders
- IT-literate with good working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience using a CRM system (any platform)
- LinkedIn prospecting experience would be helpful, but not essential
Desirable (but not essential):
- A background or interest in engineering or technical products
- Experience supporting targeted marketing or email campaigns
- Familiarity with quoting and order handover processes
